If I were the Army, I’d put a gun up here. Oh wait, that’s right. They did! Sixteen inchers in fact. The bullets weighed 2000 lbs and had a range of almost 30 miles. Dude, that’s a BIG gun. Apparently, San Francisco never had to fire these weapons in anger so, in keeping with military tradition, our government placed Nike MISSLES in their place. You know, just in case those crazy Hawaiians decided to mount an air attack against the beating heart of the summer of love.

More peaceful minds prevailed in the end however, and nuclear weapons weren’t embedded into the mountain during the Cold War. Now the site is mostly used for hang-glider staging and dog lovers. I will jump off this cliff and soar amongst the red-tailed hawks and seagulls at some point in my life. Promise.

Kristin and I took a trip on Halloween out here to gather visuals. We needed a banner. You may have heard we’re getting hitched? I’m a very lucky man to have snagged this one. Ain’t she pretty?

Apparently, there is an entire sub-culture that isn’t in my vocabulary revolving around these things so here we are, cavorting with a tripod and sunset.

The whole “jump on SVV’s back” is tough on a 200 foot cliff with a camera timer. Do NOT try this at home folks. You’ll be seagull food. (mine mine!)

We did many jumping shots. Most resulting in images that made me look like a shafted puppet and/or unleashing Kristin’s inner banshee. This is not one of them.

This is.

And this, which just makes me laugh everytime I see it.

We are actually flying at the camera. And off into the sunset.

Awesome shots. Oh, California, how I miss you.
Teehee!
I remember crawling in some tunnel along those cliffs which was part of the defense system.
Very interesting captures. Looks like having fun at the beach. What’s the banner for?
