On the First Day of Christmas…
Dec 1st, 2008 by Kristin
…Camels & Chocolate gave to me: FREE STUFF!!! Bear with me now.
Somehow, after I left, I landed myself on the press list for Benefit Cosmetics, which is based in San Fran and whose make-up I love more than anything else in the world (but again, too pricey for me to buy on a regular basis). Which means, every week, I get a box in the mail full of fun princess-y goodies. I currently have a stock that could last me three lifetimes, so this is where you guys come in. If you could take some of it off of my hands, I’d be greatly indebted to you. All you must do is kindly answer a question below, I’ll enter your name in a random number generator and send you an eyebrow kit (worth $100), plus a few random goodies that match your skin tone (worth $30 each). It’s as simple as that. Just call me the Internet Santa Claus. And if you’re a dude, ummm I don’t know what I’ll send you, but you can always give the products away to a lady friend as a Christmas prezzie. She’ll love you for that one.
As for the furry eyebrows Benefit sent me? Um, sorry, but I’m keeping those! (Thanks to Moose, Jemima’s hubby Simons, and baby Meyer for willingly modeling them with me!)
So, your question is, seeing as this is a travel blog and all: Where is your favorite place in the world? or What is your dream vacation spot? (Mine’s a tie between glacier hopping in Greenland, a mountain trek through Bhutan and Nepal, and visiting the salt flats, Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia.) Contest ends at 11:59pm PCT Friday, Dec. 5. Pass it on!

My favorite place in the world is Rome because of the food and the history. Rene and I had a fantastic vacation there back in 2007.
My dream vacation spot would be a tie between Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef and the Maldives. I’ve been to Heron Island before and loved it – unfortunately I wasn’t PADI certified at the time and couldn’t take advantage of the 20 dive sites around the island. The Maldives always brings to mind huts on the water, and I’ve always wanted to stay in one. Plus, I could jump into the water at a moment’s notice and explore the world below.
Salt flat stealer!!!
Haha, clearly that’s mine though. Which you obviously already know by now. And, um, I would LOVE to be on that press list. Yet another situation where I turn all sorts of colors as a result of Kristin induced jealousy.
Seriously though, come to Bolivia with me.
Ha! Your first picture looks like my own “Benefit drawer” at work — I’ve been contemplating a contest to give away some of that stuff too. They do make good stocking stuffers though!
Don’t enter me in this, obviously, since I have all the same loot, but my dream vacation spot would an over-water bungalow in the Maldives or a couple of weeks in India. Though maybe not that last one just right now.
What fetching eyebrows we sport! Like Holly, you can not enter me, as I’ve already reaped all the Benefit reward I could possibly want. But my current destination of choice is Portugal. For the cork, you see.
Suh-weet!!!
My favourite place in the world is Cinque Terre, Italy. Fabulous
My dream vacation is Costa Rica. I want to do the famous ziptreks through the rainforest there.
I think I should get 5 or 6 entries because I am constantly selling their stuff on my blog!
My favorite place in the world is the Four Seasons in Maui.
My dream vacation is the Maldives. At the Four Seasons, natch.
How fun! I am disappointed the furry eyebrows aren’t up for grabs though:(
My favorite place in the world is Bar Harbor Island, ME.
My dream vacation would be island hopping in Greece.
Considering I FORGOT my makeup here on my latest trip for work, I’d say this post is very timely!
My favorite place in the world right now is my HOUSE, since I never get to spend any time at home.
My dream vacation would involve a trip to England…or several trips to England. I would love to spend some time in the Lake District, and having read one too many Rosemund Pilcher books, feel a deep need to check out Cornwall.
Hands down … Phi Phi Island, Thailand. The PP Princess resort was destroyed in the tsunami, but I think it has been rebuilt by now.
I found your blog via Kristin [vintage journalizations], and was terribly excited to see it was all about traveling! I love to travel, but have yet to find a job [or field I am competent in] which would allow me to do what I so love. I backpacked for a bit after college, and fell in love with Austria, Switz, Ireland, and Scotland, and I hope to go back someday.
Now I’m going to scroll through your archives – amazing pictures, btw!
Sadly, I’m not very well traveled. But, I REALLY REALLY want to go to St. Lucia.
Also, I love the eyebrows. They very much remind me of this, which I gave to my uncle for Christmas last year: http://www.rkdm.com/mustaches/index.html?gclid=CJLMsMCRopcCFSJIagodM3oiJA
Well – those are two very unfair questions as you well know. I true travel lover could never REALLY pick a favorite place in the whole world. Maybe if I had seen as much of it as you I could but I still don’t think so. Dream vacation perhaps… Alex and I fantasize about selling everything once the kids are gone and blowing our retirement sailing around the world. Him fishing and me taking the worlds most captivating photos to sell to such and such to support our habit. I said it was a dream right? So “Random number generator!” pick meee pick meee – my eyebrows are in serious need. Like stay at home mommy need!
Ooh, exciting! My favorite place in the world is Ireland, and I would live there in a heartbeat, despite the fact that I’ve never actually been (I’m not very well traveled yet either, but I’m happy to see I’m not the only one).
My favorite place that I HAVE been is the Bahamas. I went for my honeymoon and it was just beautiful and perfectly honeymoon-esque.
Hmm, my dream vacation spot is probably Tokyo. I have never traveled off the North American continent, and I would love to experience a culture that is drastically different than my own. Plus I have heard nothing but awesome facts about Japan!
I don’t have to travel far for my favorite place. It’s currently my yoga studio, Samadhi, in Denver. Walking in there is like walking into a different world: loving, fun, inspiring. I’ve met many great people there. Teachers and students are so welcoming. It’s what I wish the entire world was like.
As for my dream vacation spot: Italy…Tuscany, specifically. For years, I’ve yearned to sit within it’s beauty, smells, tastes. And, a fling with a hot Italian man wouldn’t be so bad either.
i have been NOWHERE. so, favorite place in the world? not sure. my parents house in atlanta? my dream vacation? there are so many places i want to see…and, of course, the next time i’m looking for a vacation spot…i’ll be asking your advice
I’m delurking to say that I love this blog! Also, because I love free stuff.
My favorite place is The Dolomites in Italy. I stayed in a town called Bormio and fell in love. It used to belong to Austria and apparently no one told them that it became Italian property after WWII, so they still speak German and Italian and a strange combination dialect. The people living there are hearty and welcoming. The food is a wonderful combination of the two cultures (best comfort foods ever). The town is in the valley surrounding these incredible pink mountains that were coral reefs before the plates moved, pushing them up into unique jagged peeks. You can hike (ha!) or take the gondolas up to the tops, where every turn reveals a new view, leaving you absolutely in awe. I studied abroad in Milan and traveled fairly extensively while there, and The Dolomites are by far my favorite place.
There is no way I could pick one place for my dream vacation — Roatan, The French Polynesian islands, Sicily, Africa (like the continent, every single part of it), New Zealand, China. Know anyone trying to get rid of a private jet on the cheap??
Nothing like free stuff to get me to comment! I love this blog.
Favourite place? Would have to be my cabin on Texada Island- up the coast of British Columbia. If there is such thing as heaven- that is it.
Dream destination- The Bay Islands- Honduras- lucky for me I am going in a month
Thanks for the great posts!
Yay! Exciting giveaway!
My favorite place in the world. That’s really HARD. Umm, I really really love my parents’ summer house on the shore of Lake Michigan. And Yosemite is also way up there for me as a favorite place. I would go every weekend if I could justify the 3-hour drive.
My dream vacation spot right now is Machu Picchu — I’m dying to do the full trek to get there. I’ve also been dreaming lately of going to the Maldives, ever since I saw a picture in a magazine of someone SCUBA diving with a whale shark that was, no kidding, like 5 times as long as the person. It looked so freakin’ cool!
You can enter me! Hahahaha, as if I don’t have enough make up, right??
Hmmm.. dream vacay would have to be Fiji… a private waterfront cabana, relaxing ocean view, five star service… kind of like a Bachelor Fantasy Date, haaaaa. Or I’ve always wanted to go to Dubai…
I am dying to go to Santorini in Greece! I’d also love to travel to Venice (maybe a combo trip?). I’ve been to Rome and loved it but always had this romantic view of Venice. Luckily, my husband shares my love for Greece and Italy so we’re trying to plan a trip in the next year or so. As for the eyebrows, not going to lie – those you have on above bear a striking resemblance to mine!
As embarrassing as it is to admit to a world traveler such as yourself, I have never been out of the US! Any of my ‘favorite spots’ would be too lame to mention! I hope to go somewhere spectacular for my honeymoon… although we haven’t quite figured it out yet. I’d love to go somewhere tropical, of course.
I’m so jealous of your adventures!
My favorite place in the world is New York City, and I don’t think that will ever change. But it was a smidge better when you were here.
I just saw that article about Salar de Uyuni too. I’d pick there. Or Peru. Or Bhutan. Or… okay I could go on forever about where I’d like to go. Where I’ve been… Hallstatt, Austria or Skaneateles, NY (quite a difference between the two – or not, both on lakes… both really pretty…)
Hmm I would have to say my favourite beachy place I have been to is Pulau Perhentian in Malaysia, for it’s beautiful clear water and unspoilt beaches (at least it was when I was there). On that same category I would love to stay in one of those huts over the water in the Maldives.
A more wintery favourite would be South Island in New Zealand, and for mountains and scenery I would love to go to the Himalayas, maybe taking in China, Bhutan, Tibet etc…
And of course, my favourite city is Edinburgh… come back soon Kristin!
My dream vacation would be to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia to see the Tana Torajah funeral processions during the summer months. My favorite place for diving/snorkeling is Bunaken Island in northern Sulawesi, off Manado. My favorite European ski town is La Grave in France. Oh, and Berguen in Switzerland. My favorite New Zealand beach is Muriwai, west of Auckland. My favorite place to live in Australia is Manly on Sydney’s northern beaches. My favorite city in Germany is Hamburg. Um…stop me…this is really distracting. I have to get back to work! Let me know if I win, Kristin – I have some Benefit shimmery body powder I got ages ago from a fashion editor, and it’s nearly gone!
yay for competitions that give you permission to daydream!
my favourite place in the world is probably Donegal, which is in Ireland. It is wonderful there..
my dream holiday would definately be South America. If you pestered me for specifics, I would go for Chile, and Easter Island. That place floors me and I would love love to see it in person
oh. mah. gah!! I love you.
I would have to say Monaco is my favorite place in the world. Aside from the beauty there is such a calm elegance all over that place. I love that Monaco is where Grace Kelly gave up her Hollywood for love, there is just so much romance in Monaco. It’s like a fairy tale and I feel apart of it everytime I step foot there.
Hello! This is my first time to your site and I love it! Your logo is fabulous! Anyway, my favorite place in the world is sitting in a cafe in anywhere in Europe. I love their cafe culture, how someone can just sit there for hours, writing, reading, chatting, people watching, anything and just enjoy the excess of time and being alive. My dream vacation would be year on a sailboat, roaming the seas and scuba diving daily. Not really specific places but definitely travel related nonetheless.
Keep up the great work with your site!
Oh. Oooooh, oh oh. Makeup AND dream vacations? It’s almost to much to think about.
Okay, let’s see. I will always have a soft spot in my heart, a little yearning, for Seville, Spain because, once upon a fairy princess life, I used to live there. It’s hard to choose just ONE dream vacation, but right now? It would have to be a trip to Germany at Christmas. I’ve been to Munich before at this time, and felt like I only had a tiny taste of all the German Christmas Market Wonder that was to be had. I would love to spend all of December traveling around Germany. Ohh! With maybe some time in Christmas London too. Cliche? Yes. Possibly slightly tacky? I don’t care! Am tacky Christmas lovah and don’t care who knows it!
Thanks for this awesome contest!!
Best. Contest. EVER!
Since I haven’t traveled all that much, my choices are limited…but my favorite place in the world of the places that I HAVE been would have to be the beach in Aruba, sitting under a palapa. Ahhh.
My dream vacation spot? Probably Hawaii.
Sense a theme here? I’m in upstate NY where it is COLD and I’m pretty much down for anyplace that is warm!
My favorite place was Havelock Island in the Andaman’s in India. It’s a very hidden beautiful place which hasn’t been spoiled yet. Everyone get your maps out to find it
haha. lovin’ the brows!
My favorite place in the world is Ko Samui, Thailand. I neeeeeed to go back.
My dream vacation would be a safari somewhere in Africa.
And my dream job, is your job
I never get to travel so I don’t really have a favorite destination. And as far as dream vacation, really, I’d go anywhere. Your trip to the Maldives looked pretty great…maybe I can start there.
I’m not very well traveled, but I fell in love with Ireland when my husband and I went there for our honeymoon. I would go back in a second. And since I’m really bad at making decisions I’d have to also say that I loved visiting Turkey too.
And one day in my lifetime I would love to visit Prince Edward’s Island — I’m a diehard fan of “Anne of Green Gables”.
Favorite place of all time: Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. The moment I stepped off the train and took a look at the perfect Swiss cottages, many waterfalls, adorable main street, and the stunning Alps, I manufactured an entire new life for myself in my head. I would braid my hair every day like swiss miss, have a hillside house, a herd of sheep, and eat chocolate and cheese to my heart’s content. Love it.
My favorite place is snuggled in my bed! Oh, I have to pic an actual travel destination? Hmm… I guess I’d say I most enjoy punting on the Thames in Oxford, England. Not only is it beautiful, but you get to eat cheese and drink wine while you participate in this “sport”.
My absolute favorite place in the world is the Gili Islands off the coast of Lombok in Indonesia. Tiny tropical islands that you reach by boat, no cars on the islands and some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world. Also, the sweetest and most gentle people and laid back culture. I spent a relaxing 2 weeks on these islands and dream about going back there every single day.
Thank you for the generous contest!!!
I bet you I haven’t visited my favorite place yet. But so far, I think it might be Rome.
Favourite place in the world, the Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand. I live in London now but New Zealand is where I am from and I didn’t begin to appreciate its beauty until I left. Dream vacation spot is Tokyo, Japan…I need to make use of 5 years of Japanese lessons for starters!
my dream vacation would involve a well funded backpacking trip across europe with special interest in Greece and England. I’m more of an aspiring traveler, my favorite place in the world recently has been my couch…
p.s. thanks for the ideas for my sister’s study abroad gift. I got her and her boyfriend, who will be studying in Belgium, the books you recommended. They pretty much have everything else covered.
First off, I should tell you and that Random Number Generator how pretty and lovely you both are.
I’ve never been to Europe. I am DYING to go and when I go, I’m not going for a week, I’m going for a minimum of two weeks so I can experience it all.
And clearly I’m also hoping to win the lottery.
I either want to go to Tokyo, or to Argentina, where I could spend time both in BA and out on the Pampas.
Ahhh…favorite place in the world is St Jean-de-Luz on the Basque Coast of France. The surfing is awesome, they have paella and moules in every restaurant, and it’s where the macaroon was invented. Simons and I spent a blissful week there during a trip through Italy and France and a side trip to Bilbao. Eating croissan and cafe au lait in the morning while checking surf maps for good afternoon spots were sheer heaven. And saying, “the surf is mooshy” translates really well in French.
Currently, I’m dreaming of a river rafting vacation in Idaho and a week in a house in a tiny town in Mexico about an hour by boat from Puerto Vallarta. However, if I was revisiting places I’d already been I would vote for Santa Fe, New Mexico or a tiny town in the Swiss Alps called Ardez, just a few minutes from this http://www.bergfex.com/scuol/ ski resort.
And I am tragically cosmetically challenged, so should I win you can really think of it as a double bonus of community service- giving a gift and helping the less fortunate!
My favorite place in the world would be a tie between Madrid, Spain and San Sebastian, Spain. I like the hustle and bustle of Madrid but also the relative peace (during the day! at night it was all about underground clubs!) and beauty of the coastline in San Sebastian.
oh I heart Benefit!!
Like Holly at Nothing But Bonfires, my dream vacation would be a trip to the Maldives to stay in my own little private island bungalow! Someday when I’m rich & have oodles of free time, I’ll go
I am finding this very useful at giving me suggestions for my honeymoon! I’m googling everyone’s favorite places!
I second what Holly said–my list has expanded exponentially in the past 24 hours! You guys have some great places, many of which I am not familiar!
Hello there! Im new here, just clicked on your name in the dooce comments and saw this great giveaway! May I enter?
I havent done much traveling but I very much so want to go to paris. Or London. I really want to see niagra falls too, but Im hoping we can do that for our honeymoon someday.
I have not traveled much outside of North America but I dream of going to Amsterdam. My mom was born and lived there until she came to this country at 24. I have always wanted to see where she lived as a child!
My favorite place in the world is this rickety little fence in Santa Cruz over looking Pleasure Point watching the surfers surf, listening the ocean with the sun on my shoulders. I miss Santa Cruz more then words can express.
My hands down favorite place on the planet is Hong Kong, followed by Buenos Aires as a close second. Dream vacations of the moment: either Cartagena, Colombia, Cuba or Zanzibar.
Save a trip to India a few years back, I have not been to very many exotic locales such as the other comments. Mostly because we use vacation time very year to go to Table Rock Lake, which I have to say, is my most favorite place ever. As far as dream vacations go…Paris. I have wanted to go there since I can’t remember when.
Aw, baby brows!
This is going to sound very simple, but I have wanted to go to New York City for as long as I can remember and I’ve never made it there. So it’s the first place that comes to mind whenever I’m asked what my dream destination is!
I love Croatia! The area of Istria is simply beautiful and the people are fabulous. I hope to go back someday and see more of the country.
and Karen, San Sebastian is great too, but my number two has to be Bilbao, Spain. I love the Basque country too.
My favourite place in the world is Moreton Island off the coast of Queensland, Australia. Its one of the largest sand islands in the world and for two generations my family has been going and staying in our little beach shack at Christmas time on the island. Its not a tropical, exotic place. More “outback bush”, I guess you would call it. But its beautiful, wild and has very few inhabitants. Its my souls’ home!
sweet!
So my favorite place in the world is on my grandparent’s farm in Poland. It’s a few hours drive outside of Warsaw. I’ve never seen a more peaceful and sweet way of living a life as I had during those summers with them.
My dream vacation would be to either go back and visit them as they’re very old now, or go on that amazing dream Italian cruise my fiance and i want to do for our up coming honeymoon.
Loving those brows!
What a great contest, thanks for thinking of us (although if I win I’ll chip in on the postage to Europe! :0 )
My favourite place in the whole world is Nice.
I don’t know how it happened, but somehow this dirty, busy, tourist trap of a city stole my heart when I arrived here 10 years ago as a student teacher, and I’ve never been able to leave.
My favourite vacation spots are NYC for the winter (snow, Christmas lights and good shopping) and Mexico for the summer (beaches, sunshine, cold Coronas!)
Best. Blog. Ever. And I did always peg you for the Santa Claus of the lower 48.
You already know this, and have experienced its magic, but La Habana is the center of my travel soul and would give anything to be able to hop back there without the threat of prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. As for the dreamer in me, is and always has been Machu Pichu. If you could talk to some people, make that happen, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Santa, you’re the best!
Delurking to enter:)
My favorite place in the world is my house in the winter with the fireplace going and my kids running around in fuzzy pajamas and house shoes.
My dream vacation would be to Paris!
My MOST favorite (domestic) locale: Boulder, CO.
(Haven’t decided on an international one as of yet.)
DREAM? The island of Crete, Cuba, or a safari in Tanzania!
Hot damn lady, I re-mortgaged my house to buy Benefit….seriously…the Lemon Aid SAVED MY LIFE. And the life of a puppy…and a kitten.
My most favorite spot? Leeds Castle, in Kent – England.
You walk through a gate and are immediately surrounded but ancient (tended) forrests, gardens, pathways, and wildlife. You feel like you are walking through a fairy tale scene. And if you arrive as it opens in the first part of the year, and you get to the end of the path the castle seems to rise out of the mist right as the sun is rising. It’s breath-taking. I could move in NOW.
http://www.whymomdrinksrum.net/2008/02/longest-post-known-to-mankindthe-trip.html
Hilarious eyebrows.
My favorite place in the world is at home with my hubby and baby girl! ( Yawn)
My dream vacation spot is Spain. Can’t wait to go there.
I don’t know how much my opinion counts considering I’ve never been outside the lovely borders of the U.S. but my fav place in the world-so far in my life-would have to be in the mountains in Colorado. I’ve only been there once (Buena Vista to be exact) but it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. As for a spot I’d love to vacay, that’s easy: Italia. Hands down. But then again, that might just be my nerdy, art history roots seeping through.
MEXICO! I am so sad that we can’t go this year
So far my favorite place abroad has been Dingle, Ireland
My dream spot (hard to chose one) would be New Zealand.
There are so many places I want to visit! We just went to Ireland this year and I am already ready to head back! Or Rome. Or back to Paris and London. Or Sydney! The list just goes on and on.
My favorite place in the world is Cinque Terra, Italy (all five villages)- we got to swim in the Mediterranean! Second favorite: The Louvre. The place I want to go the most is Greece! It just looks so beautiful with all those white buildings and all the history would be fascinating.
My favorite place I have ever traveled: Florence, Italy- I studied abroad there and loved having enough time to have an actual address and neighbors. Italy truly is the perfect place. Where I would like to visit?? Where do I begin?? I have always dreamed of traveling to Greece- and on the other end of the spectrum, I have ALWAYS wanted to travel to Prince Edward Island. Long live Anne Shirley…
Benefit is the best! My favorite spot on earth would probably be Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (but the calm part not the spring break clubbing side) or Marrakech, Morocco. I would love to go to Buenos Aires and Bora Bora.
My favorite spot would be Cuzco, Peru. It is breath=taking. The stars look like diamonds that can be plucked out of the sky. It really is magical and etheral.
Mustache obsession by the Moose. Say? Has she met your father’s mustache? She might become jealous.
Oh, I just love the brows……. Somedays it seems like mine look like that. J/K.
I really haven’t traveled the world much but I HEART New York City.
I would really love to travel Europe. Maybe one day
LOVE the tribute to your pops–SO SWEET!
Favorite place in the world…gotta say Ko Samet, a small island about 2 hrs from Bangkok. Used to be my weekend getaway when i lived there– PARADISE!
Hi – I happily found your blog through a comment you left on Dooce.com! So, you pose some challenging questions here…my favorite place in the world….hmmm…well, in the states I love Vermont, especially the Burlington area. Two places outside the states: 1. Israel. I participated in an archaeological dig near the Sea of Galilee, and spent some free time in Jerusalem and also the Dead Sea. The sense of history there still sends shivers down my spine. 2. Costa Rica, where we spent our honeymoon — home of the freshest food and nicest people anywhere.
My dream vacations are: Greek island hopping, trekking around India, a weekend in Paris, Reykjavik, Iceland.
Am I disqualified for listing more than two places?!?
What could be better than a chance to win makup! My favorite. So nice of you to share.
As boring as it is, my favorite place in the whole world is snuggled up on a big soft chaise at home with my 6 year old son, giggling and eating Trolli sour worms and Sour Patch kids and watching movies. It doesn’t get any better than that for me. But if we were travelling, I do love a warm beachy day in southern california.
Tough one… Since I have only really been in Europe (except Central Turkey and the US), I’ll concentrate on my lovely continent for your first question. I own it all, you know – nobody else knows, can you keep it a secret? The Windsor’s have a sore spot there, they like to have the rest of the world believe that Great Britain is theirs. Ha! They wish.
Anyway (and this has a lot to do with my current mood): my favorite place is a tiny mountain village, in Austria (can be Switzerland if you please), covered in snow. E.g. Gargellen, St. Moritz, Lech, Kitzbühel. And my favorite vacation spot: New York City, baby. Still haven’t made it there.
I’m currently dreaming about a surf trip to Sayulita Mexico
One of my favorite places is right here in the US – the Outer Banks of NC. I grew up going there and then lived there during the summers while in college.
As sad as it may sound, my favorite place on earth is right here in the US. Just outside of Portland, ME is a beautiful state park called Two Lights (http://gallery.photo.net/photo/4552271-lg.jpg), there is not a more gorgeous sight anywhere. In my misbegotten youth, I spent a year abroad and on a particularly trying day explaining to the wretched American tourists that came to the restaurant where I worked the milk was not “La Moo” I met a young man from the area. It would be a great story to tell if I married him and lived happily ever after but alas, all we had was few beautiful days tooling around the french countryside. When I returned home and we reunited for one ill fated encounter, the one bright note was our visit to Two Lights. While he was forgettable, Two Lights brings me back as often as possible.
Even now, residing in Alabama. (Thought that might make you laugh!!)
My favorite place in the world is Iguazu Falls in Brazil and Argentina. I think the falls there are more gorgeous than Victoria Falls (which is beautiful as well). Simply spectacular. Rainbows abound. There are also these amazing butterflies, all the colors of those same rainbows. As you walk on the foot bridges, they flutter through the air and land on your arms. It’s magical!
If I had to choose one dream vacation spot, it would be India. The whole place. I have been wanting to go for years and I’m finally going to make my dream come true when I start my one year backpacking trip next year. I want to travel the entire country and figure it will take at least 2 months. I can’t wait to see the colors, smell the scents, taste the food, and meet the people!
I don’t know if I’m eligible to win since I don’t live in the US but only tonight I spent an hour hovering around the Benefit counter debating whether to spend my whole pay packet on their stuff. I consider it a sign.
Anyway, my favourite place in the world is by the Hachiko dog outside Shibuya Station, Tokyo. It’s the best place for people watching I’ve ever found. I love people watching.
And my dream destination is Havana. Hoping to make it there in 2009.
Alas, my own travels are sparse – having only been to the northern part of my state, the southern part of my state, and Washington, D.C. (which was fantastic).
My dream spot is the coast line of Italy… Portofino would be heaven.
Thanks!
First time poster! I can’t pass up the chance to win some free Benefit
Depending on time of year and my mood I would have to say my favorite place in the world is either the North Shore on Oahu or Interlaken Switzerland. My dream vacation is a trip to see the northern lights and fjords of Norway. If all goes as planned I should make it there next summer!
I really want to stay in one of those Ice Hotels, even though I hate the cold. Must go ponder that.
Mmmm…benefit cosmetics….
Favorite vacation spot ever is a tiny island off the coast of Sweden called Öland….
Instead of “spot”, can I pick a dream vacation? I’d like one of those ’round the world deals, taking about a year and hitting all the continents.
NYC is my favorite spot. Because it can be whatever I need it to be, and because there are so many spots to choose from. Right this second (winter in Santa Fe, snow still lingering under the shade of the trees), I’m thinking of Central Park some steamy early August night. Fireflies! Half the city away to summer homes and camp.
Hi! I just saw your post and though I don’t mind about the Benefit stuff, wanted to add my comments here! Although it’s really difficult to choose, the best places I’ve been to would have to be Moorea (French Polynesia), the Amalfi Coast (Italy), skiing in Hokkaido (Japan) and the Alsace Wine Route (France)…in that order. My dream destinations are Angkor Wat in Cambodia and to do the Via Ferrata in Italy. Thanks for lovely posts Kristin! Allows me to travel from my chair!
I LOVED the Cook Islands. The most amazing, beautiful place ever. I hope one day to go back with my family.
